About this building
The Church of Saint-Maurice is located in Valuéjols, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Saint-Maurice, once a commune and parish, was attached to Valuéjols in the 19th century. This village was previously under the protection of the lords of Lastic Arfeuillettes and Estaing, the Barons of Sailhans. The church depended on the priory of Bredons.
The early Romanesque church consisted of a single buttressed nave, a flat chevet and a turret. From the Romanesque period, only a beautiful arched portal remains, decorated with billets. In the nineteenth century, changes were made, adding a north chapel and a comb tower in 1853. The interior contains a piece of beautiful gothic furniture: a font and a funerary slab. There is also an altarpiece and a statuary from the modern era.
