The current building of the Timios Stavros Monastery dates from 1816 and replaces an old Byzantine church. Today, the monastery has a dual use, as a parish church and as a museum of Byzantine icons.
The first mosque of Malia, which stood on the same site as the current mosque, already existed in the 19th century.
The Ömerzade Osman mosque is located in the centre of the village. The mosque visible today replaced a former mosque in the village. The new mosque was erected around 1920, but was in a bad state only eight years later and needed extend repair. The Paphos earthquake of 1953 sustained major damage to the building, that was repaired later on.
