The church in Gjerstad is a wooden church from 1848, built according to the plans of the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch, which has similarities with the church in Bamble built a few years earlier. The church was restored to its original form in 2004.
Kroken Church is a long church designed by architect Victor Nordan and built by builder W.H. Kjønnaas in 1909. In February of the following year it was consecrated as a chapel by the bishop, but today the building bears the title of church. The church was extensively restored and extended in 2013.
The Søndeled church is a medieval church from the middle of the 12th century. Before 1879 the church was the only church in Søndeled. It was built in stone in the Middle Ages and was transformed into a cross church with a wooden extension around 1785.
The Sannidale church is a wooden cross-shaped church built in 1771. In 1766, Jakob Matssøn Lund was appointed parish priest of Kragerø and Sannidal, and he is credited with the construction of the church. Jakob M. Lund was originally from Trøndelag, and in addition to theology, he had studied medicine and anatomy. He was the first to practice smallpox vaccination in Norway.
