Manchester Central Mosque

Manchester Central Mosque, also called Jamia Mosque, is a Muslim place of worship close built in the 1970s close to Victoria Park in Manchester.
It is also known as Victoria Park Mosque.

About this building

The plan to build a mosque came from the Syrian cloth merchants and the Indian community in Manchester, who used to hold their services in some of the houses they bought. This mosque is governed according to the teachings of the Barelvi movement that originated in the Indian subcontinent.

St Mary

The Roman Catholic Church sought to tackle Manchester's deepest troubled area which lay between Deansgate and Albert Square. A church was built in 1794 in Mulberry Street on a site crowded in by intensive poor quality housing on land which had so recently been open meadow and grazing pasture.

The Withington Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in Manchester is a Sephardi synagogue built in 1925-27 by architect Delissa Joseph. This brick building in Neo-Classical style still serves as a synagogue.
