Mästerby Church

Mästerby Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The church was built at the beginning of the 13th century. In the 17th century the sacristy was added.

Mästerby Church is home to a wide set of wall paintings. The oldest date from the 13th century and the most recent from the 17th century. it houses a baptismal font from the 12th century and a rood cross from the 13th century. Its 17th century altarpiece and 18th century pulpit are also noteworthy.

Atlingbo Church

Originated from the 13th century, the church contains a Romanesque baptismal font made by the workshop of Byzantios, a stone sculptor active in Gotland that show influences from Byzantine, hence the notname.
