Church of São Cristóvão
The Church of São Cristóvão is a medieval building in the quarter of Mouraria. It was one of the few buildings that survived the 1755 earthquake almost intact. The church was added to the World Monuments Watch list in 2016 due to its worrying state of preservation.
About this building
The current building dates from the 16th century. It has a Mannerist façade and a Baroque interior. The church has a single nave decorated with paintings by 17th century painter Bento Coelho.
