The school was founded in 1471 by Juan López de Medina and offered in 1477 to the Hieronymites, who arrived in 1484. In 1489 it acquired the status of a university. It continued operating until 1837. The current buildings were built from the 17th century onwards and have been partially rebuilt.
Sigüenza Cathedral dates back to the 11th century. Its construction actually began in 1144, probably on the foundations of an old Visigothic and Moorish temple. The Renaissance painter Juan Soreda worked on the cathedral in the 16th century and in particular on the altarpiece dedicated to Saint Livrado between 1526 and 1528.
The Franciscan convent in Atienza is believed to have been founded around 1264. At the end of the 15th century, the house passed to the Observant Franciscans, who remained there until the War of Independence, when the convent was badly damaged and abandoned by the friars.Today only the Gothic apse of the church, from the end of the 14th century, remains.
The first mention of this monastery dates back to 1197. Albendiego is known thanks to the church that still preserves a beautiful Romanesque chancel, although the rest of the temple was rebuilt in a later period.
