The Church of the Holy Archangels of Șurdești was built in 1721 by the Greek-Catholic community of the village. Built in mountain oak, this church is particularly high compared to the other wooden churches of Maramureş. The wall paintings, executed on wood, were made at the end of the 18th century.
The Church of the Holy Archangel in Plopiș is a particularly successful example of the wooden churches of Maramureş. Built by Greek-Catholics between 1796 and 1798, it acquired paintings from 1811 onwards. Restorations were carried out in 1961, 1981 and 1990.
The church of St. Nicholas of Budeşti Josani is a wooden church of Maramureş. Built around 1643, its wall paintings date from 1762. The church houses objects that belonged to Pintea the Brave, a famous 17th century local hero.
St. Paraschiva's Church of Desești is one of seven listed churches in Maramureş County. Built between 1770 and 1780 and restored in the 1990s, the church has preserved in remarkable condition paintings covering all the walls of its three rooms.
