Basilica of Santi Felice e Fortunato

The Basilica of Santi Felice e Fortunato was founded in the 4th and 5th centuries, but the present Romanesque church is a 12th-century construction, restored to its original state by a 20th-century restoration that removed the Baroque additions. For more than a thousand years, the Abbey of San Felice was annexed to the basilica.

Cathedral of Vicenza

The Cathedral of Vicenza is of early Christian origin but has been rebuilt several times, the last time from 1444. The dome and the north side portal, designed by Andrea Palladio (1508-1580), are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of a list of several buildings in the Veneto region. During the Second World War, the cathedral was badly hit by Allied bombardments, which destroyed the dome, a large part of the nave and severely damaged the façade and the southern chapels. The frescoes that covered the interior were irretrievably lost. Reconstruction and restoration work began immediately after the conflict but continued until 2002.

Sanctuary of the Madonna di Monte Berico

The sanctuary of the Madonna di Monte Berico is the result of the combination of two churches built following plague epidemics in the city: the first church, in Gothic style, dates back to the 15th century. The second church was built in the Baroque style between 1688 and 1703. Monte Berico, on which the complex is located, attracted many pilgrims at the end of the 18th century after the development of the site. After the secularization of the annexed monastery between 1810 and 1835, the friars were able to recover the sanctuary.
