Værnes Church
Værnes church is a Romanesque stone church dating from the 12th century. The tower was added at the beginning of the 13th century. At the same time, a rib vault was made at the base of the tower, which was previously used as a baptistery. The sacristy was built in the 15th century, and the choir arch was enlarged in the 17th century. 100 metres to the north of the church there is an excavated lime kiln dating from the 13th century. The church in Værnes was restored under the direction of Erling Gjone and was completed in 1966.
