About this building
The earliest Eskelhem Church was founded in 12th century, although no remains of this building have survived. In contrast to most of the churches in Gotlan, Eskelhem church underwent constant alterations that later modified its form. The present appearance of the church is largely the result of the extensions of the 14th century.
It preserves several sets of murals from the 13th and 15th centuries. Among the most important items, there are the baptismal font and the rood cross, both form the 12th century.
