Saint-Thomas d'Aquin Convent Church, Lille
The Dominican friars have been present in Lille since 1224. The present convent, inaugurated in 1957, is a jewel of contemporary architecture. Classified in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments, it is the first religious building to be listed as "20th century heritage". The convent is the work of architects Pierre Pinsard and Neil Hutchinson.
About this building
The rectangular parallelepipedal church is enhanced by its bell tower-campanile. Inside, two series of ten columns support a double-curved concrete veil, and a monumental choir completes the building, for a perfect visibility of the rites and cults.
