Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, Istanbul
The Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, in the Edirnekapı neighbourhood, was built between 1563 and 1570 on the Sixth Hill of the city. The mosque was commissioned by Mihrimah Sultan, the daughter of Suleiman the Magnificent, and designed by the chief imperial architect Mimar Sinan. This is the second and largest of the two mosques with the same name. Another Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, built two decades earlier, can be found in the Üsküdar district.
Church of Theotokos Kyriotissa
Church of Theotokos Kyriotissa is a former Eastern Orthodox church in Istanbul, converted into a mosque by the Ottomans -Kalenderhane Mosque. With high probability the church was originally dedicated to the Theotokos Kyriotissa. This building represents one among the few extant examples of a Byzantine church with domed Greek cross plan.
