The monastery of Arkadi dates from the 16th century and is marked by the influence of the Renaissance, the island being then Venetian. Destroyed by the Turks in 1866 (since rebuilt), Arkadi embodied resistance against the Ottoman occupation.

The ruins of the Church of Panagia in Skouloufia can be found near the entrance to the village. The church was built in 1410.
The church of Saint Joh in Erfi is a 14th-century temple with frescoes from the same century.
