Basilica della Santissima Annunziata Maggiore, Naples

The Basilica of the Holy Annunciation Major was founded by the Congregation of the Santissima Annunziata.

About this building

The first church was built in the 13th century. In 1513, it was rebuilt and enlarged. The church was consumed by a fire in 1757. Its remains were integrated into a new building constructed a few years later. It was this latter reconstruction that gave the church its present late-baroque appearance.
