Batoshevski Monastery
It is an Orthodox monastery on the bank of the Rositsa river and near the village of Popska.
About this building
According to the inscription on one of the stone slabs in the complex, the monastery was founded in 1250. The monastery was founded in the 13th century. The monastery was later abandoned and destroyed until in the 19th century, a monk from the Bulgarian city of Troy, Isaiah, moved here as a hermit. The monk started to raise funds to rebuild the monastery. Finally, the complex was finalised in the second half of the 19th century. Since 1971 it is considered a historic and architectural monument.
