Björke Church

Björke Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The church nave was built and the 13th century and the choir in the 14th century. Lastly, a sacristy was built in the 1860. Plans to erect a tower were never realised, so this church is one of the few without a tower in Gotland.

Among the medieval furnishings of Bjorke, a baptismal font, a rood cross and the church's tabernacle have been preserved.

Atlingbo Church

Originated from the 13th century, the church contains a Romanesque baptismal font made by the workshop of Byzantios, a stone sculptor active in Gotland that show influences from Byzantine, hence the notname.
