Catholic Cathedral of Athens
The Catholic Cathedral of Athens was built between 1853 and 1865. It is dedicated to Dionysius the Areopagite, judge at the Areopagus Court of Athens, who lived in the first century and converted to Christianity. The building is constructed in the neo-Renaissance style according to the plans of the German architect Leo von Klenze, under the direction of Lysandre Kaftanzoglou. The façade facing the street is inspired by St. Boniface Abbey in Munich.
