The complex of the Merciful Brothers, which comprise a church, monastery and hospital, dates from the end of the 17th century, and was modelled on a Viennese monastery. Built by the Order of Merciful Brothers that settled in the current territory of Slovakia in the 15th century, the hospital was of particular importance during the numerous periods of war and epidemics in this region.
The Church of the Annunciation of the Lord and the Monastery of the Friar Franciscan Friars (the Franciscan Church) are originally a Gothic complex, later rebuilt, in the old town of Bratislava. The church is historically the oldest preserved religious building in the Slovak capital.
The Orthodox Synagogue in Bratislava was built between 1923 and 1926 by architect Artur Szalantai-Slatinský. This Art Deco brick building still serves as a synagogue.
The Church of the Savior, or Jesuit church located in the immediate vicinity of the old Town Hall, was built in the first half of the 17th century as a Protestant house of prayer. In 1673 the church was handed over to the Jesuits.
