The Church of the Mother of God stands in one of the holiest place of Slovenia: Svete Gore (Holy mountains). The “Holy Mountains” have the earliest Christian buildings of the countries and is still a pilgrimage centre for Slovenians. The church of Mary was first mentioned in 1265 as Monte Sancte Marie. The current building on the site is from the 17th century.
The church of St. Andrej was first mentioned in sources in 1545. According to the architectural features, it is probable that the building underwent a complete renovation in the 17th century when a closed polygonal presbytery was added to the old nave, in which a new altar was erected.
The church of St. Jernej was built at the end of the 17th century. The main altar dates from the beginning of the 18th century and is in the style of the so-called golden altars typical of the 17th century. The earthquake of 1917 damaged the church so badly that it was no longer useful for worship. Therefore, in 1922 it was repaired and repainted. It was renovated again in 1990.
The Olimje Minorite Monastery, belonging to the Franciscan Order is a former castle, built around 1015. From 1665 to 1675, it was transformed into a monastery and was endowed with a beautiful Baroque church.
