About this building
The church of St Denis Bazincourt-sur-Epte, which is part of the parish of Gisors, is located in the Normandy region in northern France. In the 10th century, the prior of Bézu-le-Long, part of the abbey of the Cross Saint-Leufroy built a small chapel, with only a single nave of 5 bays enlightened by narrow lancets. It was later enlarged in the twelfth century, with a square base choir.
In the 14th century, the chapel became a parish church. In 1780 the church was enlarged with 2 bays and the orientation was reversed.
The new choir is adorned with an altarpiece made in 1760 by Jacques Carbonnier (from Gisors) and an oil painting on canvas depicting the baptism of Christ by Charles J.B. Duchêne, a painter in Gisors. The interior also features a clock mechanism from the 18th century.
