Church of Saint-Martin d'Embry
Église catholique Saint-Martin d'Embry was built at the end of the 15th century and has three naves, like that of Fressin. It has a narthex and a monumental south porch. But its particularity is that it has kept a large portion of its medieval architecture and original decoration, an architectural summary of the flamboyant gothic style.
About this building
The very wide windows with their tracery, for example, have exceptional detail, doubtless unique in the region, with vertical and horizontal mullions, four-leaved and three-leaved openings. The amateur of mysteries can also seek a wall in the nave which shows, among old graffiti, a magic circle. The 16th century wars and then the destructions of the French Revolution necessitated the rebuilding during the 19th century in the neo-gothic style, of the choir and the tower, overseen by Clovis Normand, who integrated without difficulty this beautiful and preserved gothic architecture.
