About this building
The Saint-Martin-et-Saint-Fiacre church is located in Juranville in the Loiret and has been listed as an historic monument since 1974. Built in the 11th century, it belonged to the monks of Saint Denis abbey. From this period, the church has kept its Romanesque nave, which opens onto a Gothic choir that ends with a pentagonal apse. The nave is covered with a paneled vault while the apse is under a six-storey vault and the choir and the three chapels are covered with vaults with four slopes. The columns which support the vaults are decorated with capitals with leaves of water, leaves of ivy and hooks. The nave, choir and chapels are covered with flat tiles. The bell-tower stands north of the choir. The upper part of the bell tower has a slate roof. Like the choir, it would have been built in the 13th century.
Inside the building are various movable elements (several altarpieces, benches, trunk and stalls), paintings and statues, including two Virgin and Child (sixteenth century) and sacerdotal objects. There are traces of frescoes (twelfth, thirteenth and sixteenth centuries) on the walls of the nave.
