Church of Sao Lourenço
The Igreja de São Lourenço or Church of São Lourenço is a 17th-century temple important for the gilded decoration of the altar and the tile panels on the interior walls.
About this building
The church is an excellent example of Baroque architecture in southern Portugal. The tile panels were designed and installed in 1730 by Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes.The interior also preserves some ornaments created by the master Manuel Martins, the greatest carver and sculptor of the Algarve, including the image of Saint Lawrence.
