Church of São Romão de Alferce

The Church of São Romão de Alferce (Igreja Matriz de São Romão de Alferce) is a 16th century church.

About this building

The church has a single nave and side chapels, two on each side. There is an important set of religious imaginary existing in the altars and in the sacristy. Apart from the primitive patron, which is a stone image from the Manueline period, the other sculptural representations are in wood - five from the Mannerist period, one Rococo and three from the 19th century, already after the introduction of Liberalism, in a period of artistic decadence.
