About this building
The Saint Eloi church is located in the village of Le Salvetat-Lauragais, thirty kilometers from Toulouse in the Haute-Garonne. Erected in the center of the village, this former priory became parish church and is surrounded by a cemetery. It was built in the sixteenth century, on foundations of a fifteenth century building.
The church, with walls of shale rubble and pink bricks, has a nave, rectangular, closed to the east by a choir with three sides. Two chapels form the transept at the junction of the nave and choir. A bell-tower (modified in the nineteenth century) is found to the north of the west facade. The tower is topped by a hexagonal turret and extended by a slate spire. A porch allows access to the bell tower and the nave, while a workshop and a sacristy are attached to the church along the second bay, running north and south. A second sacristy is attached to the south wall of the choir. The building is covered in hollow tiles.
