Collegiate Church of St. Anne

The Collegiate Church of St. Anne is an academic church of the Jagiellonian University as well as a parish church for the parish of St. Anne.

About this building

The first wooden church was built in the 14th century, but it burnt down in 1407 and was replaced by a Gothic brick church that remained until 1689. The present church was consecrated in 1703, its baroque style was proposed by the architect Tylman de Gameren who referred to the plan of the Roman church of San Carlo ai Catinari, which was also an inspiration for the university church of the Sorbonne in Paris.

Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi

The Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is a Roman Catholic complex in Krakow's Old Town district. It belongs to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. Pope John Paul II resided here from 1963 to 1978. The window right above the entrance is known as a “papal window” due to the fact that John Paul II used to show up there and speak when spontaneous crowds gathered in front of it.

St. Mary's Basilica

The Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven is one of the most famous monuments of Krakow and Poland. It is a Gothic church built in the 14th and 15th centuries.
