Dům U Hybernů (Hybernia Theatre)

Hybernů House, an Empire reconstruction of the Baroque Church, became a musical theatre after a long history as a monastery and Gothic church.

About this building

The House at Hybernů was built at the beginning of the 19th century as an Empire reconstruction of the originally Baroque Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary from 1652-1659, built by the Irish Franciscan monastery. The Irish Franciscans were called Hibernians after the Latin name for Ireland: Hibernia or Hybernia. A monastery with the Gothic church of St. Ambrose had already been founded on the site of this monastery under Charles IV. The most recent conversion into a musical theatre was completed in 2006.
