The church of Parigoritissa was founded in the 13th century and was built in two phases. Originally, the despot Michael II had built a smaller temple (1205-1271), but the building has since disappeared. Then, Michael's son, Nikephoros I (1266 / 68-1297) modified the plans and created the current monument.
The Faik Pasha Mosque, most commonly known as Imaret of Arta, is one of the two surviving mosques in the city. It was built during the Ottoman era and its complex originally included baths, an imaret and a madrasa.
The Old Congregation Synagogue (Kahal Kadosh Yashan) in Ioannina is a Romaniot synagogue built from 1775. This stone building still serves as a synagogue.
