Västerås Cathedral was built in the 13th century and inaugurated in 1271, but countless extensions followed until 1517. The tower spire and the exterior roof took on their present appearance during reconstruction after the fire in the 1690s. The exterior in general and the interior are characterised to a large extent by refurbishments in 1856-61, 1896-98 and 1958-61.

Vasto Cathedral was built in the 13th century. All that remains of the old medieval church dedicated to Santa Margherita is the façade with its 14th century portal and rose windows. In the 17th century it was dedicated to Saint Augustine and in 1808 to Saint Joseph. It was raised to the rank of cathedral in 1853.

Västra Skrävlinge Church was built between 1862 and 1863, replacing a medieval church that is believed to date back to the early 13th century. The church was designed by William Klein, the city architect of Malmö. The lower part of the tower and parts of the western wall remain from the medieval church.

Vatnås Church is a small cross church with a turret in the centre of the cross plan and an open annex in front of the west portal. The year of construction of the church cannot be determined exactly, as the church accounts are not preserved. Based on information from the parish priest Bernhoft in 1745 and the inscriptions on the church and its furnishings, the date of construction has been fixed at around 1660. The interior was restored in 1947-48 with much of its original furniture and appearance.

The church in Vatne is a wooden church that was built in 1868. The church has a long plan and was designed by the architect Fritz Meinhardt. The church was moved to this location to provide a more central location and to make it easier for people to get to the church by boat.

The Vats church was built in 1855 according to the drawings of Hans von Linstow. The church, probably the third in Vats, is located in the middle of the village. The church, which was demolished shortly after the new building was ready, was built around 1640. The church that stood here before was probably a stave church.
