The hillfort on the hill of St. Clement was known in prehistoric times. Archaeological excavations have shown a settlement lasting from the 9th century to the end of the 15th century. The conveniently situated and well-protected location on the old trade route that connected Pomerania with Brno was already used by settlers during the Great Moravian Empire (9th century). According to later tradition, they even built a church here, where the relics of St. Clement were kept.

St. Finbarr's Cathedral is an Irish Anglican cathedral built between 1865 and 1879. The three spires of the cathedral are one of the symbols of Cork. It is named after St. Finbarr, the patron saint of the city. The present cathedral is at least the third on this site: a medieval cathedral existed but was damaged during the Siege of Cork in 1689-1690, and a small neoclassical cathedral was built on the site by Bishop Peter Browne in 1735. It was demolished in 1865 to make way for the present cathedral.

High standard of stone and wood carving, and interior decoration by Italian prisoners of war. One chapel is a First World War Memorial.

The Saint Gummarus Church was built on the same spot as a previous Romanesque parish church which was dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. The construction of the Saint Gummarus Church started in 1378 and lasted for 200 years. Because of this, the building was built in three different styles, according to the preference of the time: the lowest part is Gothic, the middle part Baroque and the roof and tower are Rococo. A renovation of the church is planned from 2021 until 2029.

The Saint-Hubert chapel is located at the edge of the park Tervuren. It was built at the beginning of the 17th century in an early Baroque style. The architect was Wenceslas Cobergher, who is also known for designing the basilica of Scherpenheuvel and the Saint Augustine Church in Antwerp. A renovation has been conducted from August 2018 until the spring of 2019.

Saint James' church was first built in 1093 and was the first in the Low Countries to be dedicated to Saint James. The church was remodelled, first in a baroque style (1733 - 1784) and later brought back to its medieval state (1866 - 1906). The sacrament tower of the church was made by Duquesnoy, who also made the Manneken Pis in Brussels.

The 16th century church of Saint Jean-Baptiste de Morembert is one of the half-timbered churches of Champagne. This small sanctuary of modest dimensions was originally a seigniorial chapel. It became a parish church in 1841.

Saint John's Church

The Cathedral of St. John is one of the iconic cathedrals of the city of Tartu. The church was constructed in a brick gothic style in the 14th century but was restored many times throughout its history, most notably after its damage during the second world war. The cathedral is probably most famous for its over 1,000 original terra cotta statues, some older than 700 years.
