The Rykestrasse synagogue was built in 1903/04 in the Romanesque Revival style. It is located in Prenzlauer Berg, a district at the heart of Berlin's Jewish life until the beginning of the Nazi regime. Since its reopening in 1953, it has been the largest synagogue in Germany.

The church in Rysum dates back to the 12th century but several wooden buildings probably preceded it. In the 14th century, a brick tower was built in place of the old tower and at the beginning of the 15th century, the old nave of the church was replaced by a building with a rectangular hall attached to the tower. In 1585, according to an inscription, the church tower was fundamentally renovated. The church has one of the oldest organs in Northern Europe, dating from 1457, which can still be played.

The construction of the present church of Saint-Lambert took 150 years, from 1375 to 1525. It is a late Gothic building inspired by Cologne Cathedral and St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. The building was restored in the second half of the 19th century and after the Second World War due to war damage. After the Anabaptist riots in the 1530s, the Anabaptist leaders of Münster were tortured and executed, their bodies hung in three iron baskets on the church tower. The baskets were removed in 1881 during the renovation and reattached in 1898. In 1927 they were restored.

The oldest church in Stralsund, St. Nicolas' church was constructed in 1234, gaining its modern form after reconstruction in 1971. It was constructed as a way to exhibit the wealth of Stralsund as a Hanseatic city.

The church of Saint-Bartholomew dates back to the 13th century, as evidenced by its choir built before 1260 in the form of a square brick building. Its nave was added in the 15th century as a late Gothic brick building with a barrel-shaped wooden ceiling. The ceiling paintings were painted around 1890. The present tower was inaugurated in 1887 and replaced the half-timbered tower built in 1723, which was demolished in 1884.

Salem Abbey, founded in 1136, was one of the most important Cistercian monasteries in Germany. The abbey soon became very prosperous, with large and magnificent structures erected in three different courtyards and a splendid church built between 1182 and 1311. Other foundations such as Raitenhauslach Abbey (1143), Wettingen Abbey or Stella Maris (1227) and Königsbronn Abbey (1303) were founded from this abbey. A fire in 1697 almost completely destroyed the abbey, which was immediately rebuilt in the baroque style. In 1803, the monastery was abolished and the buildings were used by the Grand Dukes of Baden, who united them in the Salem Castle complex.

The Salvator Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church built between 1717 and 1720 in the Baroque style according to the plans of master builder David Schatz, but the tower was only built between 1775 and 1778 according to the plans of Gerardo Hofmann. Two years later, the church was destroyed in the fire of the city of Gera in 1780. In contrast to the second church in Gera at that time, St. John's Church, the Salvator Church was rebuilt between 1781 and 1783 and is therefore since then the only church in the historic old town of Gera.
