Elimkerk

s-Gravenpolder, NL

Extensions in 1991 and 2006. The Reformed Church was established here in May 1924. On 19 September 1924, a small church was put into use, the Elim Church at Langeweg 61. On 11 September 1976, the foundation stone was laid for a new and larger church. The architect was M. van Dijk from Hendrik Ido Ambacht, who had also built the Petra Church of the Reformed Church in his hometown. In the design for the Elim Church, you can see a similarity between the architect's style and the Petra Church in Hendrik Ido Ambacht. A gallery was added in 1990. Under the leadership of architect J. Fierloos, a major extension was started in the summer of 2005. Temporarily, church services were held in a shed on Spoorstraat. This proved necessary because the church building had become too small again and an extension was again necessary. The church hall was expanded with 400 seats and the number of side rooms was increased from 4 to 6. The expanded church was put into use on 24 November 2006. On Friday evening 22 June 2007 the old organ, but expanded by the Nijsse company, was put into use. The following Saturday there was an open day.

Elimkerk

Modern church with freestanding bell tower. In 1948, the Dutch Reformed Elim Church was built at Onderdijkserijweg 262/corner Burgemeester van Akenwijk. In 1990, that church was closed and sold. A new Elim Church was built elsewhere. The old church became the clubhouse of a golf club. An advertisement from 2003 shows that it is now a shop for curtain and furniture fabrics, gift and decorative items, glassware, etc.
