Ascoli, IT

The Cathedral of Ascoli Piceno is the result of numerous adaptations and superimpositions between the 5th and 16th centuries. The remains discovered during the restoration of the crypt in 1967 show that the first temple was built as early as the 4th or 5th century on a pre-existing Roman building. The façade was built between 1529 and 1539 according to a project by the Cola dell'Amatrice.
