Built in the 12th century, it is built on the site of an original 5th century basilica, called "Saint-Étienne"; a Gothic choir was added in the 15th century. Throughout its history, it has been the setting for several events, such as councils during the 5th century or the coronation of the Germanic Roman Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa by the Archbishop of Arles, Raimon de Bollène. Thanks to Prosper Mérimée, then second Inspector General of Historical Monuments, it was classified as a historic monument by the 18405 list. It is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the Roman and Romanesque monuments of Arles since 1981.

The Church of St. Victor is commonly called Xanten Cathedral because of its importance and size, although it was never an Episcopal church. It owes its name to the martyr and member of the Theban legion, Viktor of Xanten, who was allegedly executed in the 4th century. The foundation stone for the present building was laid in 1263 by Friedrich and Konrad von Hochstaden. The construction took 281 years and was finally completed with the consecration of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit in 1544.

The church of St. Vitus was built in the 14th century in the Gothic style. As the old church built in 1309 had become too small for the growing population of the Rosenberg residence, a larger church was built. Thus, the present building was largely constructed between 1407 and 1438. It was given a Baroque appearance in 1725-1726.

The St. Wojciech Church, formerly the Evangelical Church of St. John the Baptist, is a Roman Catholic brick church built in 1908-1912 in the neo-Romanesque style. In 2013, a fire seriously damaged the church. The wooden structure of the bell tower burned down completely and collapsed.

The Sunger village is located in the municipality of Merkopal in Gorski Kotar, a mountainous region in Nord-west Croatia famous for its ski resorts, woods, and caves. The Chapel was built and dedicated to Cyril and Methodius in 1863 thousand years after the Moravian Mission was celebrated. Since then, the two Slavic saints have been patrons not only of the village church but also of the community of Sunger.

According to the inscription above the southern door, the church was built in 1709. The same inscription also mentions the name of the master-carpenter who built the church: Yakiv from Sniatyn. The building underwent restorations in 1765 and during the 18th and 19th centuries. The church was closed in the early 1960s. It was recognized as a unique religious monument in 1968 and restored in 1980. The building reopened as part of the Pysanka Museum in 1983.

The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1692, and its present appearance is the result of a major renovation and enlargement according to the plans of Hermann Bollé (1845-1926). The spacious building with a single nave, concluded by a polygonal sanctuary next to the choir, has side chapels and a sacristy. The nave is divided into three transepts with a cross barrel vault. The neo-Romanesque exterior is dominated by an octagonal tower in front of the central axis of the main façade.
