Heliga Trefaldighets kyrka

Heliga Trefaldighets kyrka

Gävle, SE

The present Holy Trinity Church building was consecrated in 1654 after a medieval church was destroyed by fire. The ground conditions were difficult and the church had to do without the planned tower. In 1728-1729 the arches of the south nave were rebuilt. Daniel Lundquist, the Gävle town mason, finally succeeded in building the church tower in 1779-1781, but he had to use buttresses. It was not until the restoration in 1936-38 that the instability was corrected.
