The hermitage was dedicated to the miraculous image of Crist Vellet. It is said to belong to a townsman of the neighbors who died in 1799 of a contagious disease. All his property was burned save this image. The building is in the neoclassical style.

The hermitage of La Torregarcía or Virgen del Mar dates back to the middle of the 20th century. In 1502 the caretaker Andrés de Jaén discovered an image of the Virgin Mary, carved in a single piece of walnut wood, washed up on the beach. More than 450 years later, in 1953, the hermitage was erected on the spot where the image was allegedly found. The chapel is dedicated to the Virgin of the Sea, who is considered the patron saint of Almeria at the end of the 17th century.

Regarded as the oldest monument of the town, the hermitage was built in the 14th century in a Romanesque style. In the following 16th cencury, two side chapels in Gothic style were added to the edifice, and then a Baroque presbytery in the 17th century. The hermitage was the seat of one of the oldest and still active Brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de la Huerta , founded in the 14th century.

It is a small church with a long history dating back to Reconquista. The building was completely rebuilt in the 19th century and 2005. Today it is a whitewashed building with reinforcement buttresses. The facade has a gabled roof and its pediment is truncated by the belfry with a bell. The barred door opens into a semicircular arch formed by large voussoirs.

Originally erected under the name of the Holy Trinity , its construction took place during the first third of the 17th century. The hermitage has a plant of Latin cross, which is unusual in the region. The building has a single nave, two side chapels. Inside, the nave roof stands out to be a very well-preserved old carpentry work, as well as the empty vault that closes the transept, which is rare in local architecture.

It is a small square-plan chapel, which features almost identical Gothic arches and the Mudejar wooden roof. It was in a state of abandonment few years ago until the town called for its restoration.
