The hospital church, with its characteristic tower and roof, stands out well from the old town on Hospitalsløkkan. It was built in 1705 and replaced an earlier medieval church on the same site. It is one of the first octagonal-plan churches in Norway, designed by Johan Christoffer Hempel of the Reformed Netherlands.

The house of prayer of the old believers in raja is a reconstruction from 1902 to 1910 of a building dating from 1879. The Old Believers (Orthodox branch) of Raja did not receive permission to build their own shrine until 1879. The building burnt down during the Second World War on 30 August 1944, and unfortunately, all that remains is the bell tower, which was restored in 1990. There is now a museum in the church.

Hov Church dates back to 1781. The church underwent several restorations. The largest was in 1871. Then the original unpainted timber walls were panelled, the benches were replaced, and the interior painted.

The Hov church is a neo-gothic building completed in 1887. The previous church on the site was knocked down in 1885 by a strong gust of wind, and the new church of 1887, including its tower, was built relatively low due to the particular wind conditions in Sunndalsøra.

Hove Church is a Romanesque stone church that was probably built around the middle of the 12th century and was substantially restored by Peter A. Blix after he bought the church in 1880. In the 1880s, the half-timbered tower to the west was replaced by a square stone tower. The interior is characterised by Blix's restorations.

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is a Gothic brick basilica founded in the 14th century. The church had to be repaired several times, after the Hussite wars (15th century) and after the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). In 1664, the church became a cathedral by the foundation of a bishopric and was then rebuilt in the Baroque style. In 1864-1876, the church was radically re-gothicised by František Schmoranz.
