Mariakyrkans Forsamling

Katrineholm, SE

Mariakyrkan is the oldest building in Sigtuna of those still in use. It holds memories and treasures from the history of the city and its inhabitants for more than 750 years. The, or rather the choir and the associated monastery was inaugurated on 15 August (Virgin Mary's Ascension Day) 1247/48 and in the middle of the 1250s the nave was also completed. In what was then Sweden, it was the first time the technology was used to burn bricks.

Floda Church

Katrineholm, SE

The church is built of stone and was originally built in the 12th century. In 1818 the church's roof burned and in 1872 the tower collapsed, which is why the church was in great need of refurbishment. They then chose to have a new church built and adopted the architect AH Hugg's proposal, which resulted in a large Gothic cathedral of brick. Hugg carefully adapted the medieval nave of the old church and the Kagg burial chancel to the new church. The baptismal font in the Kaggska choir was donated in 1671 by Petrus Kyronus in memory of his first wife Anna Wudd.

Katrineholms kyrka

Katrineholms kyrka

Katrineholm, SE

On January 11, 1903, Katrineholm's church was inaugurated. The church square gets its mark from the interaction between the church building and the parish home. The latter was built in 1957 and features a well-preserved exterior and interior typical of the 1950s. The location of the church is unusual. The main entrance is to the south, and the altar faces north. (The rule is west-east direction.) The reason for this is that the church would have a large gate to the railway and society.

Gullersta Kyrka

Gullersta Kyrka

Orebro, SE

The sacristy from the 12th century is probably the oldest part and the entrance was probably from the east, on the east wall you can see clear marks after a gate. The first known document that speaks of Gullersta as a parish is a deed of purchase from 1325 on a piece of land where a witness signs up as John's church lord in Gullersta. So the longship was built, and the tower then had a pyramid-shaped hood. The current shape of the spire was added in 1697.

Valla Kyrka

Valla, SE

The church was inaugurated in 1962. With its steep gabled roof, it has similarities with a ship. The choir is the bow of the ship. The architect was Johannes Olivegren. (He has also designed Nuvertorp's church.) Downstairs there is a meeting room and a kitchenette. Before the parish yard existed, all children and youth activities were conducted in the church.
