Saint Michel chapel, Lake of Serre-Ponçon

The chapel Saint-Michel, associated with the abbey Saint-Michel (Sacra di San Michele in Italy), was built in the 12th century on a small hill, in the hamlet of Couches. Destroyed in 1692 by the troops of the Duke of Savoy, it was rebuilt in the 17th century. During the construction of the dam in 1961, the destruction of the chapel was planned, but, ironically, its altitude is slightly higher than the height of the lake.

Church of Saint-Laurent

The Church of Saint Laurent, located in Crots in the Hautes-Alpes, dates from the fourteenth century. Different architectural styles can be observed: initially Romanesque, the church contains Gothic and Lombard elements. Six lateral chapels, four of which were added later, punctuate the vaulted nave. The building also contains two processional crosses and two paintings that are classified as Historical Monuments.

Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de la Salette

One year after the apparitions of 18 September 1846, when the Virgin appeared to two shepherds, the abbot of Kermenguy had an oratory erected in N.D. de la Salette, the first in France. Too small, it was replaced by the present building in 1848. A pardon is celebrated there every year in mid-September. Numerous retreats used to take place there.
