Hausken Church

Sørbø church is a stone church from the mid 12th century. From 1308 the church was one of the royal chapels in Haakon V in Norway. Of the 14 royal chapels, only three remain. The church is poorly decorated but has exceptionally fine Romanesque masonry with regular horizontal joints and horizontal stone.

Askje Church is a long church dating back to 1846. The wooden church received its first organ in 1906. The organist was Nicolai Dirdal, nine years old, who was the youngest organist in the country.

The Utstein Monastery Church has a rectangular nave and a choir of the same size, separated by a central tower. The foot of the tower has a portal to the south of the monastery courtyard and the nave has a western portal. The monastery complex is well preserved and was used as a stately residence after the Reformation. In the 1950s, the monastery complex was extensively restored.
