Hlíðarendakirkja was built in 1898. The church is dedicated to Saint Þorlákur, a native of Hlíðarendur. It is abundantly illustrated and beautifully painted inside. The altarpiece is a replica of an altarpiece from a church in Denmark and dates from the time of the church's consecration.
The Heimaey stave church is a wooden church located in Heimaey, Westman Islands. The church was made in 2000, as a gift from Norway to Iceland, on the occasion of the millennium of the first church built in Iceland by Olav Tryggvason in the year 1000.
Víkurkirkja is a church built between 1931 and 1934 when the population of Vík was growing and no longer wanted to travel to the church in the neighbouring village for every mass. It was consecrated by Jón Helgason, the bishop of Iceland at that time.
The Þingvallakirkja, an Icelandic term which literally means "Church of the Parliament Plains" or "Church of Þingvellir", is a small church whose present building dates from 1859, but the first building was constructed on the initiative of the Norwegian King Olaf I at the time of Iceland's conversion to Christianity around the year 1000.
