The Orthodox Cathedral of Ruse was built in 1632. Although the exterior of the church is rather sober, the iconostasis of the temple is very original. Probably built at the very beginning of the 19th century, it was restored between 1989 and 2000. The cathedral church "Holy Trinity" was declared a cultural monument of national importance in 1983.
St. Paul of the Cross is the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Ruse. The building was built in the neo-gothic style from 1890 to 1892, and was designed by Valentino Dello Antonio, who also designed the Catholic church in Varna.
The Church of St Nicholas the Miracle Worker, known as the "Russian Church", is the third Orthodox church built in the city of Ruse, after the Holy Trinity and St. George. The church was consecrated in 1873 by the Greek community of the city.
The Seid Pasha Mosque in Ruse was built in 1839 on the site of the earlier Hadji Bekir. After a major overhaul it acquired its present appearance in 1875. It is located in the courtyard of the Islamic spiritual school, built by Said Pasha as a girls' school.
