The old church of Källa was first mentioned in 1360 and was probably built on the site of an old wooden church. The current church, of rectangular plan, is a limestone building with a church porch built on the south side and a sacristy at the northeast corner of the building.
Situated on the island of Öland in the Baltic Sea, the church has existed since the Middle Ages. The current architecture is however from the 19th century. The church contains a Romanesque baptismal font, probably made by the artist known as Master Byzantios on Gotland.
Påskallavik Church, built in the 1860s, is a whitewashed church of grey stone, consisting of a rectangular nave, a tower and a vestry. The tower stands along the west side of the church. On the east side is the sacristy, which is relatively large. Its size is explained by the fact that this part of the church was the first to be built, and from the beginning, from 1863 onwards, it served as a place of worship. The sacristy was also used as a classroom until 1880. The decoration of the church is mainly the work of the sculptor Arvid Källström (1893-1967), whose home and studio was in Påskallavik.
Kalmar Cathedral, so-called even though the diocese of Kalmar ceased to exist in 1915, was consecrated in 1682. The church was designed by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder. It is assumed that Tessin was inspired by the churches Il Gesù, Sant'Agnese in Agone and Santa Susanna in Rome for the design of the exterior architecture.
