Den Horn Church

The hall church, with its eclectic façade and neoclassical elements, was built in 1862 as the successor of a medieval church.

About this building

Over the years, the village has developed more to the west of the church, making it more or less separate from the village. Until 1981, services were held in the church. In 2010, the restoration of the church began, with the wooden barrel vault being replaced by a vault of plasterboard. Apart from that, the interior is largely in its original state.

Since 1981 it no longer serves as a church as the building was transferred to the SOGK by the Dutch Reformed Municipality of Hoogkerk / Oostwold in 2011. It is now a multifunctional space, where the Foundation Friends of the Church of Den Horn organizes various activities, including exhibitions and musical events.
