About this building

The former Evangelical Church in Dorstfeld, Dortmund, is a remarkable architectural gem. Built between 1903 and 1905 by architect Arno Eugen Fritsche, the church follows the asymmetrical design of northern German brick Gothic style. Adorned with ornamental glazed bricks, the church features three aisles, a straight chancel, and a tall tower with pointed polygonal roof. The facade is accentuated by a gable and two main entrances, while a beautiful rose window once graced the interior above the wooden organ.

In 2013, the church was deconsecrated, and in 2016-2017, it was sold to the property company Medibau. Careful renovations were carried out, including a new paint job, flooring, heating system, and the relocation of the organ to another church. Today, the church serves as an event venue, with its impressive interior space creatively illuminated and adaptable for gatherings of 80 to 350 people. The repurposing of this historic church has breathed new life into the community.
