Metamorfosis tou Sotiro

Metamorfosis tou Sotiro (Transfiguration of the Saviour) is one of the painted churches of the Troodos Mountains. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.

About this building

The church was built in the 16th century and as many other painted churches in the Troodos region, it is a single-nave church with a pitched timber roof. The interior of the church is completely covered with wall paintings from the Palaiologan Renaissance, the latest stage of Byzantine art.
