Monastery of Santa María la Real de Fitero
The Monastery of Santa María la Real de Fitero was built between the 12th and 13th centuries. The complex preserves the church, the cloister and the chapter house, as well as the conventual rooms that were built in the modern period.
About this building
Thanks to its frontier location in the 12th century, the monastery of Fitero was the beneficiary of important donations from Castilian and Navarrese monarchs. It remained active, with varying degrees of vitality, until 1835, when the monks abandoned it due to the disentailment.
