Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar

The monastery of Serra do Pilar belonged to the order of St. Augustine. Its construction began in 1538 and continued over the following centuries, during several stages of construction that significantly altered the original design. Considered to have exceptional architectural value, it was listed in 1996 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
