Jovanje Monastery

It is believed that the monastery of Jovanje existed before the battle of Kosovo in 1389. However, the present monastery was built in 1957 after the construction of Lake Medjuvrsje. The former church dedicated to St. John the Baptist was flooded during the construction of the hydroelectric power plant and Lake Medjuvrsje.

Monastery of the Transfiguration

The Monastery of the Transfiguration, located in the gorge of Ovčar-Kablar, was originally situated on the other side (left) of the Western Morava, but was demolished in 1910 due to the construction of the railway Čačak-Višegrad. The first mention of the Monastery of the Transfiguration in written sources is related to the year 1525.
